Lennox + TiLT 19

HELLO BLOGGERS!

Welcome to my long, long overdue blog of updates and general awesomeness.
I haven't blogged in 16 days for a variety of reasons, but I'm here now and that's the main thing.

I feel rather terrible for missing two TiLTs in a row! I did email the one from two weeks ago (TiLT number 18) to Jd and Rach, but thursday last week I was away on PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP AT LENNOX HEADS and didn't have access to a computer until I got home on friday afternoon, so I just kind of never wrote one for last week. Nevertheless, I've written one for today!

Here's what I'm loving this thursday:
- My ever expanding camera collection! Mum gave me two hand-me-down cameras earlier this week, one from the early 1900's and one from the 1950's, they're both ah-mazing! These two plus my new action sampler bring my collection to a grand total of 9 cameras! And Matt's got me a three lense film one from Ebay for a late birthday present, and I am going to buy a Fujifilm Instax when (or if?!) I get my K-Rudd money! Wooo! I'm obsesseddddddd.
- Getting compliments on my hair! If I had $1 for every time some one had asked me "Do you curl your hair like that every morning?" or "Where do you get your hair dyed like that?" I would be a zillionare. OH MAN, I'M NOT EVEN EXAGGERATING, IT'S ALMOST SCARY. I've been getting them hardcore over the last two weeks. At photography camp almost every single person I talked to complimented on my hair - the curls, the colour, the cut or all three. I had oodles of randoms at camp coming up to me just to tell me they liked my hair. IT WAS NUTS. Also, I've had randoms in the real world outside camp also complimenting me on my hair, alot. Like, it's really strange! People from camp, people I don't even know, friends' mums, friends from uni, friends not from uni, even when I was handing out resumes people complimented me on my hair at three of the places I went into! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE SUDDEN INFLUX OF LOVE FOR MY HAIR, IT'S WEIRD BUT ALSO KIND OF NICE. THANKS JADE FOR BLEACHING IT, EVEN THOUGH THAT WAS LIKE 4 OR 6 WEEKS AGO NOW, HAHA. Anywho.
- My new photography friends at uni, man it's nice knowing more than two people that I've made friends with in my course...
- Being able to say "I'm studying photography at the Queensland College of Art". Lame, I know, but hey, I think it's pretty cool.
- Using manual focus on my DSLR. Man, it makes for some wicked rad photos! The pic of the green shoes was taken on camp, I did it usuing selective focus, pretty cool I think, but hard to tell cos I uploaded it in the smallest size possible but oh well.
- Jade. She cheered me up when I was rather down on tuesday, and she even made me a polyvore! Thanks babe.

And that's pretty much it. Had a rather non-happy week full of stress and exhaustion, but hey, it's friday tomorrow.

So, seeings as I've been a slack blogger, here's some things that have happened since the 10th of March when I last blogged - I'll try and put them in sequential order, so you can all be totally up to date on the last few weeks of life in the land of Lou...

- Jack and I saw Sparkadia at their last Brissy show for a while on the 13th. Oh man, it was a good night after the stress of Jack not having a ticket was resolved (he bought the last one available at the door) it was a good show. The Jezabels (did I spell that right?) were pretty cool, John Steel Singers were, as always, fabulous and Sparkadia were pretty good but did leave a bit to be desired. I thought seeings as Sparkadia won't be back in Australia for a year or more, they'd jazz things up for their last show in Brissy for a while, but they didn't really, just played a steady set, not leaving much room for talking between songs. Nevertheless they were enjoyable, even if they did lack a bit of energy, they were still pretty amazing as far as live bands go, perhaps I expected too much, I don't know. But yes a good night overall, Jackus and I had fun. Faavourite quotes from Jack from that night are: *I tie up my hair into a bun* Jack: *Looks at me for a while* "Did you... stop wearing something just then?". Other fave quote - on the train ride home at 1am, Jack whilst leaning on me: "Shut up, I need to sleep! Louises are for sleeping on!" Good times, haha.
- I went on a road trip to Maleney and Montville with Wilko on the 14th... check my facebook for pictures. It was a super fun day and nice just to not think about uni or work or anything for a few hours. Wilko and I went op shopping and scored some bargains, had lunch in Montville, coffee in Maleny and even went to the Witta cemetery for a while. Good times, good times.
- I did my last shift at NVC on the 15th. Yeah. Grrr. Sad and frustrating. Let's not go there.
- I went on Photography camp at Lake Ainsworth near Lennox Head in Northern NSW from 17th - 20th... again check my facebook for more pictures. Photography camp was MEGA awesomecore. I did about 9 workshops over the 4 days, made heaps of new photography friends and generally just had a great time. The location was beautiful too - right between Lake Ainsworth and the beach, so lovely! The workshops were super rad too, especially working with the 10 X 8 camera (which we took on the beach! It was such an odd thing to see!) and also making pinhole cameras out of every day objects and developing the prints ourselves, I'm now addicted to anything to do with a dark room. I could go on about every workshop I did, but I won't bore you. Long story short, it was awesome, I learnt lots, got to play with some wicked film and digital cameras and made some cool new friends, all the time somehow managing to avoid swimming in the pool, lake or ocean, cos I'm too cool for that. (JOKES, I just don't dig swimming that much.)
- I had Jack, Al and Rach over randomly on the 20th for dessert and a chat at 9pm, it was great. Woulda been greater if I wasn't totally exhausted from camp though, haha. Love you threeee.
- I've become very poor from a lack of employment... Jack and Alison, how do you do it?! I'm hanging out for the K-Rudd money and the payment for a photography job I did about a month ago...
- I babysat on the 21st for cash, it was good because I'm rather poor right now. Easy money. If you know anyone who has kids and needs a good babysitter, give them my number haha.
- I spent the weekend 21st - 22nd applying for jobs. I applied for 11 in total, most of which were businesses that had multiple locations/offices so I really applied for more than 11 places but yeah. I'm considering having a break from vet nursing, and working in either a pet shop or perhaps a clothes shop, just for something a bit different.
- I went back to class after photography camp this monday - 23rd - and then became completely inundated with uni work and assignments and have spent this whole week running around taking photos for my many assignments. Bleh. I also have a 1000 word modernism essay to write... should probably start that, haha.
- I bought a cheap ($12AU) film camera from ebay! It's a lomo action sampler and has 4 lenses, it's wicked rad and made of cheap plastic and I love it. I picked it up from the post office on the 24th, and I've started using it. Can't wait to see if any of the pictures are decent or not!
- I had a job interview today at Ally (it's girls/womens clothes store for those who don't know) I'll find out tomorrow if I've been short listed or not. Woo. I don't really mind either way.
I'm waiting to hear back from Pet Barn to see if I'll get an interview there for one of their stores.
- Overall things have been rather hectic and exhausting lately, trying to find a job and do uni classes and assignments whilst still managing to have a regular sleep pattern is hard. I've spent this whole week taking photos and getting them printed for uni, I want a holiday so bad! I'm drowning, so much so that Jade was actually going to buy me floaties. Yes, floaties.

So there. Now you're all up to date on the more interesting happenings of my life over the past few weeks.
Yep.

Tomorrow I'm off to uni for the fourth day this week, as per usual, then probably to the gym.. And I'm (most likely, so long as it doesn't rain) going to FINALLY painting by TSB at Chermside this weekend, all weekend. No relaxing weekend for me, just paint and (hopefully not but probably) sunburn.

Hope you're all going ok and arn't needing floaties like I am.
How is uni/school/work/life in general going for everyone?
Love from your little photographer girl,
xx

p.s I made me into a polyvore the other day... Check it :P
I have this dress in purple in real life... and I want that fisheye camera!

Antlers

GOOD EVENING READERS!

Warning! This blog has no real point or direction, but hey, what else is new?!

I'm just going to dive right into things...
So, as mentioned in my TiLT, here's a photo from the vet's house who likes to hunt in his spare time. More pictures to come but this is all I have for now. I like it though.
It's so unsual to see a deer in someone's living room. Think about it.
It was so confronting at the time, I'm still mulling it over in my brain.

Apart from this I don't have many other interesting things to report.
I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I'm a student again. I did actual work outside of class today... researching artists and photocopying their photography counts as me doing work right? Righttt? Haha.
Photography at uni is so full on and in depth, and it's only the second week of classes! It's nuts! I bought one of my required text books today though, so I have all the good intentions of actually being a good student and actually studying.
We'll see how long that lasts.

In other news, Gossip Girl is the highlight of my week, no, really.
That and the fact that the new edition of Empty Mag will be appearing in my letter box any day now, I can't wait to get my hot little hands on it! I've been itching for the new edition for about a month now!
So yeah... My life is mega mundane and not interesting at the moment.
I'm going on photography camp next week, should be wicked awesome, no idea how I'm getting there though considering it's down near Byron Bay. But hey, it should be pretty cool. It'll be like school camp but with alot of expensive cameras and alcohol. And we're in dorms that're mixed and we pretty much decide everything about what we do, where/if we sleep, whether we want to actual do the photography workshops or not etc etc etc. Should be interesting, thats for sure.

Moving right along... I'm meant to be painting another TSB tomorrow but the weather forcast is rain. Everytime I go to paint this particular TSB something stops me - holiday to the coast, being really sick for 3 weeks, loosing my job, having to go to uni, and now on my one day where I don't have uni the predicition is rain, like, wtf mate. Not fair.

Anywho... As of this weekend I'm unemployed. I need to fix my resume and start handing it out places but I'm so just in denial that I've actually lost one of the few things that's been a constant in my life over the past 3.5 years. I'll no longer be Louise-who-works-at-the-vet. I'll just be Louise-who-used-to-have-a-cool-job-at-the-vet-and-is-now-unemployed-angry-and-poor.
Bleh. I'll find a new job somewhere I'm sure. In a few weeks, maybe. When I've got my shit together.

That's pretty much it for now. I think I shall go to bed.
The end.

p.s I straightened my hair on sunday for the first time in a longgggg time. I had to take a picture. Me with straight hair is a rarity. Woo. It's so yellow under fluro light.

Now I'm really going to bed.
Nite.

TiLT - Week Seventeen, and other random stuff, yo!

Welcome bloggers and the like!

So it's been a week since my last blog and although not too many ground breaking things have happened since then, a small update is in need. But, first let's get down to business - I've got a TiLT to publicise here.
On a random side note I am rather proud of myself for blogging fairly frequently over the last 5 or so months, makes me feel good, even if barely anyone actually ends up reading what I write.

Things that I'm loving this week are as follows:

Ok so almost everything on my TiLT list this week is uni and/or photography related, because I'm having a bit of a tough time trying to focus on work because I get sad but oh well. It's where my head is at right now.

- Being at uni again! It's so nice to be learning and actually engaging my brain in some sort of learning process is great. I've been taking notes in all my classes like crazy cos I really like writing and I learn more if I write it down. It's also really nice to be studying something I'm so infatuated with! It's amazing! All my tutors and lecturers are the most interesting and inspiring assortment of men and women too, it's so great. I'm going to re-read this blog in a few weeks when I'm stressed out to the max to remind myself why I liked uni in the first place.

- Making new photography friends! Following on from my first point, making new uni friends is awesome! I've met a few great people and I'm sure I'll meet more as the weeks go by, it's only week one after all. I'm sure once week 3 arrives and we go on crazy photography camp I'll meet loads more people! Woo!

- Being a photography student! Ok so following on again, uni is wicked rad. The photo of the bird of paradise is one I took today in my studio class. We were let loose in South Bank for an hour with a list of expercises for apeture, depth of field, ISO and shutter speed to complete. We then went back to the studio and some of us (those who were brave.. including me) gave our SD cards and we went through our shots in front of the class. The tutor said my shots were "good", which made me feel pretty cool considering he just said most other people's were "fine". Haha. Sometimes I feel I'm already in over my head in terms of the maths and science side of everything, but the actual practical stuff does make the maths make more sense.

- Birds of Tokyo and Trial Kennedy with Dan! Such a great night out, except for the whole drama of Dan forgetting his ticket. Haha. But yes, fantastic show put on by TK and Birds, I was throughly impressed. I sung along to all the songs and bopped my way through the whole gig whilst taking photos. The one to left is of the support, some random crazy Perth DJ named Thomas Ford. He gets 10 points for entertainment value alone, he was wearing a strand of light bulbs!

- Randoms complimenting me on my photos! Following on from my previous point, some random lady saw me taking photos during the gig and was looking over my shoulder when I was showing Dan, and then random leans down to me (Dan and I were sitting down on the ground between bands) and is all like: "Omg your photos are amazing! Wow! They're so good!" Etc. I was like: "Oh.. wow, thankyou... I'm a photography student" and then we chatted for a while. Turns out she went to school with the TK boys! So, after TK finish playing this random lady (the one who complimented me on my photos) goes down to talk to the lead singer of TK, Dan and I follow and end up meeting and getting our picture with the lead singer of TK! SO AWESOME. I HAD SUCH A GOOD NIGHT. THANKYOU DAN.

- Freelance photography work and being paid for it! I'm loving that I keep getting money for taking photos, it's pretty cool to earn money doing something you love. If you have a photography job for me let me know and I'll take photos for you! The photo to the left is a random one I took of the tulips Michelle got me. I was taking photos of them every day, sort of like a time lapse thing, seeing how they slowly wiltered and eventually died. I liked this shot in particular.

- Taco Tuesday! This tuesday I finally made it to the Alibi Room for Taco Tuesday, it was a great night out despite the fact that their air con was broken and we all literally had sweat dripping off us! Jack, Dan, Al and I ate mexican and then went and got gelati and spent hours chatting and eating, it was so lovely. I love you guys so freakin' much.

Special mentions: Budget shopping at Woolies with Jade and seeing Jade in general. Woooo. Yep. Also: Discovering that one of the vets at work has a hunting fettish and as a result has a zebra skin rug in his house, along with some buffallo, deer and gizelle heads mounted on the walls. It was amazing, horrifying and breath taking all at once. I've now patted my first zebra(!) - I just wish the zebra wasn't flat on the living room floor. Moving on... Other mentions go to: Subway, Woolies choch chip cookies, lemon lime and bitters soft drink that's no brand and cost me 80 cents, coleslaw (always a fave), Caitey from work cos she's great, my new face scrub cos it's awesome, the under water photos I took up the coast actually turning out and being hilarious (can't remember if I've mentioned that before or not... Not gonna re-read all my blogs to re-check either), the song "Love Lockdown" by Kanye West - I don't mind a bit of Kanye now and then, and I've had that one on repeat all week, actually logging into my DeviantArt account and considering updating things, taking photos of puppies and just about everything else, doing new tattoo designs on the train and finally - blackberry chupa chups.
The photo of the german shepard pup is one I took at work. Look close. He's winking. It's adorable.

For the second week in a row I've been slack and posted my TiLT on a friday.. I should change my post names to TiLF but that sounds weird. I'll try really hard to actually post it on thursday next week, I will!

Ok so I'm writing this TiLT then going to bed. I'm rather tired. My eyelids are drooping. And yet, my brain just wants to keep on going. I'm buzzing with ideas and thoughts about photography from my first week of uni. It's been really great so far. I've learnt so much and it's only been a week!

Following on with the lack of actual structure and logical thought sequences in this blog - I'm considering starting a photo blog, but I really like writing too so I'd be way too tempted to write loads of stuff everytime I posted a photo.
So, instead, I'm going to just keep blogging here and upload loads of photos (but hey, what else is new?!) as I blog. So there.
What a waste of a paragraph, haha. Oh well. This photo is an out of focus one of my fish. My fish are pretty cool, as far as fish go, the orange one, Norbert, has a bit of a fungal infection or something going on on some of his scales at the moment, I'm not really sure what to do but I'll take him to work soon and get someone to look at him.

ALSO! THE ITC! IT'S OVER! I FAILED (KINDA)! WOO! Well I didn't fail entirely, I went to the gym a fair bit but because I was sick for most of February it kinda ruined the ITC for me. But hey, the intentions and goals were there, haha. I haven't given up though. I'm after a life style change that's permanent, not just a one month challenge, so I'm going to try and keep it up. I've been to the gym twice this week despite having to work and/or go to uni everyday except wednesday! Woo!

Ok so I think I'm done randomly blogging for now. Hope you all had lots of things you were loving this thursday!

p.s Sam! HOW ARE YOU! Long time no talk! How's school? And the library? And Yogi?

p.p.s I've just discovered the "compose" button when you're creating a blog.. I've always just done it in the "edit html" part and not ever clicked the "compose" option.. I've now discovered the amazing world of being able to change fonts, and the colour and size of my text. This will be exciting, oh yes.

Tilt - WEEK SIXTEEN! FOUR MONTHS OF TILTING!

Hi all!

Ok, so yes, my TiLT list is a few days late, but, I had it written on thursday as normal then totally forgot to blog it!

I had a very shit week last week but here goes:

- "Looking for Alaska" by John Green - Rachel lent it to me, I'm addicted. I'm almost done, like 10 pages left and I've only had it just over a week. Brilliant stuff. I want to read Paper Towns next!
- Uni O Week - It was pretty daunting, and the maths tut was scary but the week over all was pretty great. Such a large variety of people enrolled in photography, some have been into it for years like me, others just decided over the summer to enrol in the course on a whim! Amazing!
- British India + Blood poets with Rachel last thursday! It was super fun times, we need to have more of these nights Rach!
- Lily Allen's new cd "It's not me, it's you" - Jade bought it for me and man, I've had it on repeat in my cd player ever since!
- The Week That Was and Port OBrien - Two bands I've been meaning to get into for aaaages and finally have, now I'm obsessed! Love!
- Eye make up! i'm slowly getting more confident, and with that, more addicted. Lime Crime is so much funnnn, especially when I use it with a wet brush!
- Sexy cameras! We had a photography expo at uni on thursday, mand that was amazing. I also discovered both my lenses for my DSLR are above and beyond the requirements that I need for uni, so I was pretty stoaked about that! Can't wait to get into it all!
- The nurses who I’ve come to call my family at work and are still on my side after everything. I loast my job on monday, and all my nurses have stuck by me so well. Michelle even got me a gorgeous bunch of tulips!
- Wilko! He took me out for Nandos and a late night romp in the park on thursday night! Cheered me up immensely :) Thankyou buddy!
- Jade! Sticking by me when my life is falling apart, even if hers is too, that is commitment right there.
- Dan giving me hugs.
- Making a few friends at a new Uni, and running in to lovely Erin today at uni! I'm thinking this year will be a good one!
- Bumming around with Jack. I LOVE YOU. Doing nothing but talk for 3 and a bit hours today was lovely!

Looking forawrd to : Photography camp and getting drunk with all my new photography class mates (apparently it's a tradition that everyone gets very drunk each night on camp! LOL!).
Birds of Tokyo and Trial Kennedy with Dan.
Sparkadia with Jade and Jack.
Catching up with all my mates who're going to uni at QUT!
Reading A Clockwork Orange that Jack lent me!

That's all.
Hope you all had a fabulous week, I didn't really, but the things I listed above sure helped cheer me up when I needed it most.

The end!
xx

p.s RACHEL I MISS YOU. ALISON I MISS YOU ALSO.
